IS GROWERS LAWN FORMULA JUST ANOTHER FEED?

No, most lawn feeds contain one or more sources of nitrogen. When placed on the lawn these quickly turn to NITRATE. Nitrate is stored in a plants leaf, after feeding there is always a flush of lush growth. The nitrate in the leaf needs to be processed into proteins by the plant and sent to the areas of need, most importantly the roots. Before this important process takes place, people mow the lawn and effectively stop the process dead in its tracks. So the nitrogen feed people pay for ends up in the grass box.

Growers Lawn Formula is stabilised nitrogen in the Ammonium form. When applied to the lawn it remains in this form for a long period. The ammonium does not need to be processed in the leaf therefore Growers Lawn Formula is much more efficient. The nitrogen in Growers Lawn Formula is also specially bonded with Calcium. Calcium plays a very important role. It strengthens the cell wall structure, making the plant less susceptible to disease and pests. It also helps in times of stress by suppressing ethylene, which causes the plant to die. It also can improve the soil structure of heavy, clay soils by helping to naturally break down the clumps of clay into smaller pieces. Calcium in our complex form can also leach sodium from the soil. Sodium or salt can be very toxic to a plant and can be the cause of deficiency leading to disease.

CAN IT BE USED ALL YEAR ROUND?

Yes, Growers Lawn Formula will continue to promote the growth of roots even through the winter period. The Calcium will promote a healthier cell wall structure, which will help to ward of disease.

Yes, it is specially formulated not to burn when hot and not to leach when really wet. We do however recommend that feeding be done early or late in the day during hot weather to minimise excess evaporation.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

There is a two way process important in maintaining the health of a plant. The first is encouraging the plant to establish a healthy root system. The second is to have sufficient quantities of all the nutrients available so the roots can forage for them.

Growers Plant Formula promotes efficient vigorous root growth so that the plant can establish quickly and forage for nutrition. It also promotes resistance to disease and pests through calcium. The nitrogen and calcium in Growers Plant Formula are specially bonded to create a synergy between the two. The results are healthy, strong plants that produce better results.

IS IT NECESSARY TO USE WHEN I PLANT SHRUBS OR RE-SITE PLANTS/SHRUBS EVEN THOUGH I WILL USE MANURE, COMPOST OR NPK?

Yes absolutely, nutrients alone do not cause roots to grow and sometimes manure can suppress root growth. Growers Plant Formula will promote vigorous root growth into the area where the nutrients can be utilised. Also the calcium will help the plant overcome the stress involved during these exercises. Usually NPK, manure or garden compost is dug in at planting, this is good practice but because of the amount of organic matter and/or type of nitrogen feed the plant can take up too much Nitrate. The nitrate is then stored in the foliage hence we often see a flush of growth. The stored nitrogen in the leaf needs to be then processed by the plant and sent to the areas of need, most importantly the roots.

Even though Growers Plant Formula contains Calcium, which is thought to be harmful to acid soil loving plants, the plants still need calcium as a nutrient. Quite often ericaceous plants are deficient in calcium. The effects can sometimes be astounding.

Also during winter when the plant is dormant Growers Plant Formula can be sprayed on to the woody tissue of a plant. This dormant application has a noticeable effect come spring. The nutrients are stored under the bark and come Spring when the plant bursts into life there should be more new shoots, which are healthier and stronger than before.
